Even without the gambling, Myrtle Beach can seem like Las-Vegas-by-the-sea. The town is usually full of crowds, traffic and tacky souvenir shops - so its hard to have a quiet, nature-filled vacation here. Your best bet is not to fight the town too hard: check into a hotel, buy some cheesy souvenirs, and take a long swim in the Atlantic.

The US is most popular with travellers during the summer, but this is when American families pack everything up and head out to visit Aunt Tilly. To avoid mobs (especially throughout the national park system), it's better to go during autumn or early spring.
